I am so happy that vinyl is becoming such a noted and embraced craft product! It's capable of transforming almost anything, making vinyl one of the most versatile products ever! SRM carries a large color and finish variety and I am in love with the glossy vinyl for my deck cooler!
The way vinyl breaths new life into an object in just a few steps is really magical! This is a large metal cooler we got for our deck parties and is functional and good looking, but I wanted to make it more fun and special, so I put my Silhouette to work and cut out the words "cold drinks" from red glossy vinyl.
I always peel away the negative material while my vinyl is still on my cutting mat, then pull the entire paper from the mat slowly. This is easier for me because the cut is anchored to the mat and won't slide around while I'm pulling away the excess vinyl. Now I apply the transfer tape.
I am very careful to really burnish my design well with the transfer tape, this way if I have to re position my vinyl I am insured that it is securely adhered to the transfer tape.
Once on my cooler where desired I burnish the design again, smoothing out any bubbles and paying close attention to all the edges, after peeling away the transfer tape I inspect the design for any loose edges, or bubbles. The cooler is really smooth, so the vinyl went on quickly and beautifully! I love how much "cooler" our drink cooler looks now!
