Operation Write Home Week DAY 1

Welcome! We're teaming with Operation Write Home all week long to celebrate their birthday. Operation Write Home is an organization that sends blank handmade cards to deployed service members so that they can write home to their families. As of March 2012, they've sent 1.7 MILLION cards!

We're helping out this week by creating Birthday Cards for our service men and women. We have a lot in store this week, and a fun reader challenge (read below).

Today we're using a sketch by OWH as inspiration;

Altered Halloween Box by Jan

Jan Tatomir found a cute box and immediately thought that Halloween Border stickers would look GREAT with it! Jan says, "I fashioned a tube holder insert with cardstock-covered cardboard and filled the tubes with "bones", "intestines", "eye balls", and candy corn. I added a blackbird and bat for fun, along with a label with googly eyes."

Positively spooky! Thanks for joining us this week. You'll want to come back all next week as we're teaming with Operation Write Home with a week full of birthday card inspiration and giveaways!

Holiday Treat Bags by Liz

Liz Weber had fun creating custom treat bags using SRM Stickers! Liz says, "I've used a clear plastic handbag for this treat bag idea which includes mini tubes full of marshmallows, rainbow chocolate drops, and bullets. I used We've Got Your Border Christmas stickers to decorate the outside of the clear handbag. I adore the Christmas tree stickers on the Stickers By The Dozen sheet so had to pop one on the bag! The Labels By The Dozen sticker was the perfect finishing touch."

Liz also created a Christmas cupcake treat bag. She shortened a plastic straw to hold Christmas tree sticker;

Holiday Mini Tubes by Amy

Amy Duff spent some quality crafting time with her daughter, making some whimsical holiday tubes!

Amy says, "We used mini tubes to make a treat holder and keepsake ornament. For the reindeer treat holder, we added "We've Got Your Border" Christmas around the top an bottom of the tube. The red joy circle is from "Live Life" Christmas. Rudolph's nose is made with a red circle from the border sticker set. I made two antlers with black card stock and my daughter made his ears with kraft card stock and added two wiggle eyes. The label is from the Christmas "Labels by the Dozen". I tied a twine bow to embellish and filled it with chocolate candies."

"Next is the keepsake ornament containing my daughter's Christmas list. I saw this idea on Pinterest and did a spin on it to use a tube. Wouldn't this be fun to create each year and then use to decorate the tree? The original idea was a glass ornament which makes it difficult to roll up and impossible to get out with the narrow tops. SRM tubes solved the problem and make the list easy to pull out and review."

What fun tubes to create - for any age!

Haunted House Treat Bag by Valerie

Valerie Mangan went to town with a paper bag and Halloween stickers, and created a spooky treat bag that's sure to please!

Valerie says, "One of my favorite parts of Halloween as a child were the houses that would give out little treat bags filled with candy. I let that memory inspire my project; a house-shaped treat bag, haunted by ghostly Peeps!"

"I built my house from a small paper bag (approximately 4 x 6") with a flat bottom. I slid a narrow cutting pad into the bag and cut out the window, which I then filled with a transparency, embellished with a sentiment sticker."

"The roof of my haunted house is a folded piece of black cardstock, layred and scalloped. The banner and the 'trick or treat' sentiment are from the We've Got Your Border - Halloween sheet. The Happy Haunting sticker seemed only appropriate!"

Halloween Treat Bag/Card by Carolyn

Welcome back! Carolyn King is here to share a Halloween project today - a treat bag with coordinating greeting card;

Carolyn says, "I created this silly witch using a label (Labels by the Dozen-Everyday Brights) for the body. I used border stickers to decorate her hat then attached one of the candy corns (Halloween Stickers by the Dozen) to the tip of the hat, dangling by a jump ring. I used yellow circles from the Halloween Border sheet to make the eyes and I have her standing on the loopy border. I finished off the card with the trick or treat sticker strip on the ribbon in the background, and more border stickers for fun."

Carolyn's clear bag is decorated with a handmade topper and more border stickers;

Christmas...by Liz!

Liz Weber used her crafty mojo to create a few holiday projects. Liz says, "I had these plastic cups left over from my daughter's 6th birthday party last year and thought how fun it would be to decorate them with border stickers! I added the cute tree sticker to each straw. My kids LOVE this and I will make birthday ones later in the year for their parties."

Liz created this adorable and festive gift bow by adding border stickers to both sides of strips of white cardstock and following a bow making tutorial. The strips measure;

8 strips of 1" x 6"
4 strips of 1" x 5"
1 strip of 1" x 4"

Have a great weekend! Be sure to load YOUR SRM work into our Gallery!

2013 Wall Calendar Art

Carolyn King really outdid herself when we asked her to create a special project using our new 2013 Mini Calendar Stickers. Carolyn says, "I purchased this bird cage last year and created a tag calendar. It has been such a hit in my home this year that I decided to tackle one for 2013 so I can replace the 2012 tags. The 2013 tags feature Mini Calendar Stickers and a LOT of other SRM stickers! You can see the details in the photographs. I also used lots of Border Stickers!

Stop by tomorrow to see Liz's handmade sticker bow and custom holiday cups!
